Before we dive into the Prussian school system and how it influenced the educational systems across the globe, let’s refresh our memory about Prussia to those who didn’t listen in history class.

The point of the Prussian school system was to ensure “no German soldier would disobey orders again”.

Prussia and its school system

Prussia was a state in Germany that originated in 1525 but got dissolved by an emergency. In contrast, it was later on terminated in an emergency decree transferring powers of the Prussian government to German Chancellor Franz von Papen in 1932 and de jure by an Allied decree in 1947.

Most school systems use the Prussian school system, which originated as a fundamental concept in the late 18th century and later on significantly enhanced during the Napoleonic Wars.

The Issue With The Current School System

The Prussian school system uses free primary schooling as a min for poor citizens where the teachers get an education in college; teachers get a base salary. Its also built on an extended school year to involve children’s of farmers more in school. The curriculum of the Prussian school system contains a robust national identity and the involvement of science and technology.

The modern school system contains several issues that only works for a specific group of people. Not every kid learns the same way, and we should respect that. We also need to recognise just because you can’t get average grades does not mean you destined to fail, not even in today’s society. The current school system builds on the idea that intelligence is fixed.

Isn’t intelligence something I’m born with?

Intelligence is the ability to acquire and apply knowledge and skill however our genes do not determine our future, and we can apply learning techniques to increase our speed of learning, ability to comprehend and communicate it.

There exist several techniques for example to increase reading speed and at the same time keep up with the comprehension like meta guiding.
